We are often asked about recycled timber benchtops, floating shelves and island benches in kitchen renovations. Natural timber can bring a tactile, warm quality to a kitchen and works well in both modern and more rustic redesigns.
Here is a small, low budget kitchen DIY in Melbourne’s Macedon Ranges that we loved (and helped to create!).
The clients kept existing cabinetry that was in good condition and entrusted us to create recycled timber kitchen benchtops and floating shelves from a complimentary timber. We used locally salvaged red stringybark to bring out the warmth of timber and existing tiles.
The clients also changed the splashback and tiles, installed a beautiful vintage light fitting, added a fresh coat of paint.
The result is a beautiful kitchen that compliments the rest of the earthy interior of the early 80s home.
A stunning low key DIY kitchen renovation.
